Year 7 Camp 2021 - CAMP LAURENCE
On Wednesday 23 June 2021 to Friday 25 June 2021 the year 7 cohort will embark on their very first camp of their secondary schooling journey. Students are invited to attend a three-day camp at Camp Laurence, located at Moogerah Dam. Students will be catching a charter bus from BPSSC which will transport them to and from the camp venue.
The total cost for Year 7 Camp will be $300, inclusive of accommodation, meals and transportation via charter bus.
The camp facilities at Camp Laurence are second to none; with trained camp educators who will run an array of activities for the students to partake in such as mountain biking, fishing, archery and teamwork/resilience building activities such as high ropes courses. A permission form including full details about all activities will be issued to students later in the term. Please be aware that while these activities provide valuable experiences for your child, some are considered high-risk activities. If you have any reason or concern about your child participating in one or more of these activities, please contact the College to discuss.
Places on Year 7 Camp 2021 are limited, therefore Camp registrations are now open. A waiting list will be created should numbers exceed the capacity of the camp grounds. In order to reserve your child's place on camp, complete the attached permission to invoice form. Once this has been received and your student's enrolment application has been approved with all paperwork and documentation submitted, you will be invoiced the full cost of camp $300. BPoint is BPSSC's preferred method of payment. A $50 non-refundable deposit is due by Friday 12 March 2021. The remaining balance will need to be paid by Friday 1 May 2020.
Preference will go to students with attendance above 90% and positive behaviour first. Students on the Non-Representative List as per the Representative Policy will not be able to attend this excursion.
In order for this camp to run seamlessly and offer the depth of life experience that students will immerse themselves into, we as a College have made the decision to ban all electronic devices whilst on camp. This includes mobile phones, MP3 players, video game consoles and tablet devices. This will ensure no illegal images are taken of your child and help them build resilience and confidence, as they must rely on each other and the team of staff and students to get through the three days. BPSSC will have a staff photographer and approved images will be put on Facebook and in future newsletters. These banned items are in accordance with the College banned items of chewing gum, permanent markers and aerosol cans, which also are not permitted on camp.
